I’m a Photographer (And So Can You!)

Well, I did it.  I survived a quick (wonderfully awesome sleep deprived) trip to Cali…and boy are my arms tired!  It’s going to take a while to download and edit all of the photos from the long weekend, but if you follow my instagram, you’ve gotten the sneak preview.

Road Trip!

Over the long holiday weekend, I took a road trip to Philly to see some music (James Iha…best known for his role as co-founder of Smashing Pumpkins…in the afternoon and Stephen Kellogg/the Sixers in the evening).  For some reason though, I did something completely out of character.  I left my big camera at home.

I felt completely naked.  It was…weird.  Do you know what I mean?  Camera-naked-weirdness?

Thankfully, I still had the cell phone camera and access to a point and shoot. (Phew!)  Do you know what type of photos you can create with a cell phone??  Your favorites!  #Travelgrams!

Share the Road

That past weekend, I took a “girl’s trip” to Cape Cod to celebrate a friend’s birthday.  We had a great time eating too much food, hiking through sand dunes (to burn off the calories), and watching some pretty spectacular sunsets.  It was a very relaxing way to spend a weekend.

While we were girl-y chatting, my travel habits (addiction?) came up in conversation.  Friend One was telling Friend Two that I’ve been all over, which of course made me reflect on the year.  That, in turn, made me feel extremely grateful for the memories I’ve made.

This year I’ve been to Maine for a girl’s weekend, New Orleans (and cruised out into the Caribbean Ocean), explored Watkins Glen in NY state, Niagara Falls and Toronto in Canada, hopped through NYC and Boston a few times, did a day trip to the north shore in Massachusetts, a day trip to Block Island, driven down to southern Pennsylvania, Chicago and most recently, Cape Cod.  Phew!  And it’s only September!

Talk about a blessed life. =)  Believe me when I tell you, I live on a very strict budget but when something is important enough to you, you will make it happen.  And to me, traveling…seeing the world, meeting new people and making new memories is so very important.  I’m so very grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and the decisions I have made that have allowed me to do the things I love. We only get one shot at life and I’m trying to make the most of it!

Chicago and Friends

Phew, just flew back from a great long weekend with Nick from Nick Exposed and Will of WhereToWillie…and boy are my arms tired! haha  I know, I know…waka waka!

Obviously I flew out there.  It’s just a quick 2 hour flight…unless you have a 3.5 hour flight delay due to weather, that is!  Despite Isaac, we all arrived to-and-from safely and we had a blast photo-walking the city.  It’s going to take me a little time to download and process the images, but I figured I would get you all started with a few #travelgrams.  Because they’re kind of my thing.  But then, since you all follow me on instagram and twitter, you knew that…right?  Right!? 😉

#Travelgrams, Take 2!

Phew!  What a busy weekend it’s been!  I took a quick trip down to Pennsylvania this weekend, which is about a 6.5 hr drive…unless, of course, you dilly-dally and stop to take photos along the way.  Then it’s more of a 12 hour drive. haha

In that time I:

1) Ate 4 bags of Twizzlers.
2) Drove about 1000 miles total
3) Took a few more Travelgrams. 🙂

Yesterday I took a quick trip into NYC for some music.  While I was there, I tried my hand at some ninja-cam….aka, used the cell phone for some photos instead of whipping out the DSLR.

My original intention was to try a new HDR app I had downloaded two weeks ago (and had yet to open!) but in true Creative fashion, I got sidetracked.  haha

These images – that I’ve decided to label “TravelGrams” – were taken with my cell phone, processed with the default camera program and uploaded to Instagram.  Since I’m sharing some love, I’ve thrown in one bonus TravelGram from my trip a few weeks back to Toronto.

I’m planning to go back to NYC next week, so if you guys like these, let me know and I’ll see if I can’t put some more together for you! =)
